Stoke Newington & Islington, North London N16

... and thank you for taking the time to have a look around my website.

I am a complementary therapist specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (a combination of CBT and Hypnotherapy), HypnoBirthing, doula work, aromatherapy and mindfulness based in Stoke Newington, North London.

In 2008 I left behind a 13 year exhilarating yet all consuming career in the music industry managing record producers and working with some of the most successful artists in the world. As with all demanding lifestyles something had to give and I became intrigued and fascinated by the body-mind connection and how we can help ourselves on life's occasionally challenging journey.

I trained in Clinical Holistic Aromatherapy, Anatomy & Physiology and Therapeutic Massage in 2004 and amongst my most satisfying experiences was being able to use this training to help a friend through a much longed for pregnancy and birth. After attending the birth of her second son in 2008 and leaving behind the world of music management, I became very passionate about empowering women to achieve a satisfying birthing experience and trained with Middlesex University on the only University accredited Doula course in the UK. I have since attended many births in hospitals, birthing centres, at home, in a hotel (!), in water and on dry land births and VBACs. Each is a unique, humbling, wonderful experience.

I now work full time as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, HypnoBirthing teacher and Clinical Aromatherapist.

I have been teaching HypnoBirthing since the beginning of 2009 and have seen perception and awareness of it grow and change in the five years since then. There are a few different "brands" of using hypnosis for birth now that it has increased in awareness but they all have the same philosophy and goal. I believe it's important to work with the person in front of me and so bring my experience as a doula, clinical hypnotherapist, CBT counsellor, mindfulness coach and aromatherapist to offer a truly holistic antenatal preparation course. Although I'm based in North London, I've taught hundreds of couples throughout London, I've had couples travel from other countries to learn with me and have even done Skype sessions to India. I regularly run group classes on evenings and weekends and am happy to arrange private classes at your home, or mine if you prefer. Please take a look at the HypnoBirthing page for more info.

'WHY HYPNOBIRTHING MATTERS' to be published in Spring 2015!
I'm thrilled to have been commissioned by highly respected publishers Pinter & Martin to write about 'Why HypnoBirthing Matters'. Launching the Why It Matters series in spring of 2015, this book is a balanced and evidence-based introduction to hypnobirthing exploring the history of hypnosis for birth, how and why it works and provides guides for midwives and partners along with lots of inspiring birth stories.
You can read more about this amazing series of books here

I hold a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) accredited by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC) and the Royal College of Nursing (RCN). CBH uses the umbrella of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) which views problems and symptoms as stemming from unhealthy beliefs, dysfunctional thoughts, maladaptive learning and behaviour. Such unhealthy beliefs are at the heart of disturbed feelings, behaviours, thoughts and symptoms. Once these beliefs have been identified hypnosis is used as a tool that positively influences the effectiveness of emotional, behavioural, cognitive and symptomatic change. For more information on how I can work with you please look at my Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy page.

Having trained with SMARTfoundations as a Meditation and Mindfulness coach I bring the benefits of this practice to both HypnoBirthing and CBH clients. Simple but powerful techniques to help connect with your body and the world around you allows for calmness and change to develop. Mindfulness has become a bit of a buzz word recently yet the practice goes back thousands of years. Recent neuro-scientifc studies show us the power we can tap into with the mind-body connection: whether you're expecting a baby, processing a traumatic experience, suffering from insomnia or digestion problems or just feeling dissatisfied with life the collection of training and experience I've gathered can help you.

I am a member of the International Federation for Professional Aromatherapists (IFPA) and also hold an advanced certificate in aromatherapy and massage for pregnancy. I regularly treat pregnant women and love making bespoke aromatherapy blends to help combat the myriad of physical and emotional twists and maintain a happy harmony during pregnancy. Take a look here for more information.

I am also a recognised member of FEDANT (Federation of Antenatal Educators) the HypnoBirthing Institute, the HypnoBirthing Association and the General Hypnotherapy Register so you can be sure I am qualified, certified and insured for all my work as Clinical Hypnotherapist, Doula, HypnoBirthing Practitioner and Aromatherapist. I hold an advanced CRB check and adhere to the regulations laid down by the Data Protection Act, strictly maintaining confidentiality.
